Why do you have to become a nudist to go outside naked? I think it must be against the Constitution to make us?
wear unnecessary clothing in the hot summer. It also warps kids' minds, and makes them think the body is dirty, whereas Adam and Eve and their descendants enjoyed total nudity for generations until they learned how to make garments out of animal hides. Don't believe the Bible story about fig leafs, because Adam and Eve didn't know how to sew them together, nor did they want to.
People who say they don't want to see fat people nude need to learn some compassion for others.
There are no federal laws concerning nudity. It is up to the individual states to set these kinds of laws and the laws to vary widely from state to state. In New York, for example, the law states that a woman can go top free in any place where a man is permitted to do the same and the state of Vermont has no laws concerning nudity at all (though some localities have enacted local ordnance, I believe).
The general consensus across the country seems to be that, provided you are on private property and you are not being lewd or bothering anyone then you can be nude without having to worry about being arrested. Depending on how conservative your local police/government is, though, you may have a hard time explaining your way out of the situation if someone complains, so it is probably best to keep your nudity private and secluded.
I agree with your thoughts on nudity, though. I personally don't see what the big deal about our bodies is, though I see a lot of advantages to mainstream nudity.
